Climbing Mt Kili, we made it to the top 5,895m above sea level, is and was really really hard. On reaching Gilman's Point, which is on the edge of the crater at over 5,600m, desperation, exhaustion and an unending hunger for oxygen is replaced not with a sense of achievement or pride (both come later) but rather a profound sense of relief.
Mt Kili is meant to be one of those take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints places. For me though, I take away some things and left some other things behind. I take away some added strength or rather confidence in the strength that was within me the whole time and leave behind some daemons from the past.
As we are now in Africa, on safari from tonight, our access to a decent internet connection may be limited. We will post when we can.
